Online Sensors for Extreme Manufacturing
University of Huddersfield, UK
Dr Haydn Martin is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Huddersfield, UK. He is a member of the Centre for Precision Technologies (CPT) which currently hosts the UK’s multi-institutional Future Metrology Hub in which he is a co-investigator working on methods for extending depth-of-focus in optical sensor systems. Dr Martin has expertise in optical metrology, applied optics and embedded systems engineering. His research concentrates on the development of novel optical sensor technologies to enable high-precision surface and dimensional metrology ‘on-line’. Such sensor systems need to attain the performance of standalone measurement systems but must be realized in a form that is robust and small enough to allow integration within a manufacturing platform. He has worked on a variety of approaches to developing such systems including the development of ‘on-chip’ sensor technologies using hybrid photonic integration and the application of novel beams. Dr Martin has over 40 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers and has been granted two international patents. He is a Research Affiliate of the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP).
